Apart from the delicate fashion scene, the Edwardian era brought up a deeper interest for socialism and gave women space to speak out about the injustice towards their gender (just a few years after the Edwardian era – women finally “got” the right to vote)! No wonder we love this period of time! In fashion, there was a rise of haute couture, and the Gibson Girl was the feminine ideal.
Luckily, we didn’t have to search through library books for inspirational ideas: the ITV series Mr Selfridge take place at the end of the Edwardian era and forward! We are captivated by all the crochet and lace details!Well, it turned out to be rather unhealthy to wear dramatic corsets,and it just seem a bit unwieldy to wear long, tight gowns.
