About Miss Patina
Our Story
Miss Patina is a London-based brand that combines vintage-inspired, whimsical elements in fashion – creating a style that is both eccentric and timeless. Formed in 2009 by London College of Fashion graduate Holly Wang and her team, Holly’s vision has been to create a brand that reflects her love of British culture, art, nature, and cats.
Who is Miss Patina?
Someone with a young heart, who loves literature, nature, art, music all things with history. They are easily touched by the small details in life. They are fun, feminine, often unexpected, and always nostalgic. We believe there are many people who lead the Miss Patina lifestyle; maybe you are just one of them!
Our Values
Miss Patina shares love and passion through original detailing, in order to remind people to appreciate the simple pleasures in life; staying curious and being grateful to little things that life has to offer. A sense of happiness and a beautiful state of mind is what we love to promote.
The Concept
The meaning behind our scalloped shell logo is inspired by the birth of Venus.
The scalloped shell is uniquely feminine and elegant and is frequently displayed in the designs of Miss Patina clothing.
Patina green is the sheen produced on surfaces through age and it represents our influence from past decades, whilst the colour is associated with Rococo art and represents our highly decorative nature. Patina is the beauty of time and comes from a life lived which is the essence of timeless beauty.
Why Cat-Inspired Design?
Over 10 years ago, on a snowy winter night, Holly found a poor pregnant street cat and gave it refuge in the Miss Patina studio. Shortly after, the cat gave birth to four adorable little kittens. Holly loved the four little cuties so much that she was inspired to create a cat related collection. This repertoire of designs and styles was immensely successful and won the hearts of Miss Patina fans worldwide. Ever since then, Miss Patina has launched a new cat theme every season, and has continued to do so. From angel cats to mermaid cats, musical cats to book kitties; even a variety of David Bowie and Beatles tribute cats. Season after season, Miss Patina’s cat range brings joy and surprises, not only to cat lovers, but to girls who share the same love of fun, quirky imagination and generosity.
Why Bird-Inspired Design?
On a dark stormy night, a small blue budgie was found, cold and wet, with his wing injured. Holly’s mother took him in and cared for him. He quickly recovered and a few months later even learnt how to speak in English and Chinese! Charmed by the magical little budgie, Holly started to create bird inspired pieces every season to share love and positive vibes.

Ethics
Our clothing is made in our workshop in China where we abide by the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and treat all employees fairly, supporting them all the way! We strictly follow the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) as our base code. Some of our accessories e.g. Straw Boater Hat are handmade in Italy.
The clothes are packed in our UK office, based in London, where the second part of the team is located. We believe that a happy and healthy employee makes for a more efficient and motivated workforce, resulting in better quality, workflow, and standards across the company.
In our efforts to minimize waste, our packages are meticulously crafted with sustainability in mind. We staunchly oppose material waste and ensure that every garment unsold finds a purpose, either through charitable donations or innovative repurposing.
When garments incur damage, we don't simply discard them. Instead, we salvage the materials to create new products or fashion them into stylish accessories. You can check Ingrid’s dress leftover fabric being used to create hair scrunchies.
Moreover, our commitment to sustainability extends beyond production. In collaboration with Holly's mother, Grace, a respected educator, we've established a workshop where parents and children can engage in hands-on crafting sessions. Here, they breathe new life into old clothes or fashion accessories from leftover fabrics.
Furthermore, we prioritise the use of sustainable materials to enable cost-effective and efficient production while ensuring no harm comes to animals. Defective clothing or leftover materials aren't wasted; instead, they're seamlessly integrated into new designs or combined with existing fabrics to create fresh styles.
Any surplus stock is not left unused; rather, it's generously donated to charities to support those in need. Through these initiatives, we strive to make a positive impact while upholding our values of sustainability and compassion.
Sustainability
We fully recognise our responsibility when it comes to sustainability and are continually reviewing how we design and source our collections to move in a more conscious direction.
We use a range of natural fibres such as cotton, linen, viscose, and TENCEL™️ for their breathability, softness, and comfort. However, these fabrics can sometimes wrinkle easily and may not always maintain structured silhouettes throughout the day.
To balance this, we also use carefully selected high-quality modern polyester in some of our designs. This is very different from older, lower-grade synthetics - it is durable, long-lasting, and excellent at maintaining shape and structure, helping garments retain their intended design over time. In many cases, these premium polyesters are more expensive than cotton alternatives, reflecting their quality and performance.
That said, we are actively working towards increasing the proportion of natural fibres in our collections over time, wherever design and function allow. Our aim is to make more conscious material choices without compromising on the creativity, fit, and longevity of each piece.
We completely understand and share the appreciation for cotton and linen - they offer a beautiful, natural feel and an effortless drape. However, they can be softer and less structured, which makes it challenging to achieve the sharper, tailored silhouettes that define many of our designs, particularly in our blazer and academia-inspired styles.
To better serve customers who love a more relaxed aesthetic, we are also introducing a dedicated cotton-linen line, offering lighter, more natural options within our range.
For us, it’s always about choosing the right fabric for the right garment - while steadily moving towards a more thoughtful and responsible balance in our materials.
